1985 - Aiken, SC: Karl Haslinger, owner and CEO, began building custom homes in Aiken, SC, one by one. He decided that homebuilding was indeed the path his life was meant to follow.
1993 - Columbia, SC: Karl founded Essex Homes Southeast, Inc., in Columbia, building about 25 homes per year.
Present - Columbia, SC & Charlotte, NC: Essex Homes now builds over 350 homes each year while maintaining much of that custom heritage as seen in the large number of original designs and the quality with which our homes are built.
The corporate office located in Lexington, South Carolina houses all departments from drafting to sales, including our newly completed, ever- growing Design Studio. The Essex Homes Design Studio is our 3,000 square foot showroom of home features and ideas under one roof created to offer convenience and customization to our homebuyers.
Repeat occurrences in Fast Track of Builder Magazine and numerous awards such as Builder of the Year have proven that Essex Homes SE is a leader in the new home-building industry. A customer service satisfaction rate of 96% has been one of Karl’s and Essex’s greatest achievements thus far. Perserverance, strategic planning, and an abundance of faith have created a successful business, lifetime trade partners and friends for Karl and his family.
